22nd April 2020 A Day to be Remembered.

On 22nd April 2020, four Police Officers, just doing their jobs, were killed in a horrific motor vehicle accident. It is the single biggest tragedy in the Victoria Police Familys’ history. Some of us at aussies4aussies have been personally touched by the deaths of Emergency Service Officers (both Police and Ambulance) as recently as 15 months ago. It is tragic to see how many lives the death of one officer impacts, let alone four at once. In support of all four families - and the wider Police Community - we are currently raising funds for Victoria Police Legacy (VPL). 100% of all donations received will be transferred to VPL. VPL have endorsed our fundraising efforts. WHY DONATE TO VPL? Victoria Police Legacy is a registered Not For Profit Charity designed to care for the families of fallen and retired police officers. As with any person killed in this sort of situation, the police are no different. These families will endure many months or years of court cases and some time down the track there might be some form of compensation - but that doesn’t help now. Right now these families are suffering emotionally and before too long financially as well. They will need emotional and financial support - and VPL will be there to facilitate that. VPL will not only care for these families but over 1,500 Lagatees already brought into their family. Donating to VPL is a way to show you support our Emergency Service workers - Police, Ambulance, Fire & Rescue, volunteer units such as SES, RFS, VRA - and the list goes on.

WHY DONATE THROUGH a4a?

Victoria Police Legacy have their own fundraising happening with GiveNow - a reputable fundraising platform that permits an organisation to raise funds for their cause. GiveNow will pass on all funds donated to Victoria Police Legacy. a4a is different from GiveNow in that we do our own fundraising for specific causes. One day it is for four Victorian Police Officers, next week it might be for your beloved neighbour of 20 years who was tragically struck down with a life threatening disease, or a newborn baby who suffered complications at birth and will need support for the rest of their lives. a4a would love for you to donate via us simply so we get “more runs on the board” to prove we are reputable. Being granted permission by the Victoria Police Legacy Fund is a huge bonus for us and a great show of trust, which ultimately will lead to us being able to be more successful in other fundraisers in the future.
